Frequently asked questions

What is GiveBack?

GiveBack is a Shopify app that lets your store run fundraisers for schools, sports teams, churches and other groups. You pick the eligible products and the recipients, and part of each eligible sale is credited to the recipient your customer supports. Each recipient gets a status page showing what it has raised, and your dashboard shows every total.

How do customers choose which group their purchase supports?

Customers choose after checkout, on the order confirmation page. On both plans, they can pick a recipient from a list. On the Growing plan, a campaign can ask for a recipient's fundraising code instead, or give each recipient a shopping link and shopping QR code that credits that recipient automatically.

Can customers credit a specific seller, like a student?

Yes. When a campaign asks for the seller's name, customers pick their seller after checkout, on the order confirmation page, from the recipient's seller roster, or type a name that isn't listed. You can add sellers in bulk, fix misspellings and merge duplicates, and each status page can show a seller leaderboard. This works on both plans.

How much does GiveBack cost?

GiveBack has two plans, billed monthly through Shopify: Startup at $19 a month and Growing at $49 a month. Each plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and both include unlimited orders. You can switch plans from the app at any time. To cancel, uninstall GiveBack from your Shopify admin.

What's the difference between Startup and Growing?

Both plans include unlimited orders, status pages and seller names. Startup ($19 a month) allows up to 3 recipients per campaign. Growing ($49 a month) allows up to 50 and adds fundraising codes, shopping links and shopping QR codes, campaigns with overlapping dates, a fundraising banner on product pages, Shopify order tagging and the recipient admin portal.

How do recipients see how much they've raised?

Each recipient gets a public status page showing what it has raised, against its goal if it has one. You choose whether it also lists orders, total sales and a seller leaderboard. On the Growing plan, you can invite a recipient's staff as recipient admins, who see their totals, orders and sellers in the recipient admin portal.

Which products count toward a fundraiser?

Only the campaign's eligible products, which you choose one by one or by product tag; with a tag, new products that carry it join automatically. For each eligible sale, a campaign credits the recipient either a percentage of the price, after discounts and without shipping or tax, or a fixed amount per item, which discounts don't change.

Does GiveBack send the money to recipients?

No. GiveBack never handles or touches money: your store pays each recipient directly, when and how you choose. GiveBack tracks what each recipient raised, shows it on your dashboard and the recipient's status page, and lets you export each campaign's totals and orders as a spreadsheet.

Do I need to edit my theme or write code?

No. You add GiveBack's block to your order confirmation page in Shopify's checkout editor, with no code. On the Growing plan, the fundraising banner on product pages is a theme app block you place in the theme editor; it needs an Online Store 2.0 theme, and GiveBack works without it.

Can I run more than one fundraiser at a time?

Yes, on the Growing plan: campaigns can run with overlapping dates, and GiveBack warns you when one purchase of an eligible product could count toward more than one of them. On the Startup plan, campaigns run one at a time, since their dates can't overlap.

What kinds of groups can a store raise money for?

Any group that wants to raise money: schools, sports teams, scout troops, churches, PTOs and booster clubs. Each one is a recipient in your campaign, with its own status page, and on the Growing plan its own fundraising code, shopping link and shopping QR code. Startup allows 3 recipients per campaign; Growing allows 50.
